

| Max began playing bass at the age of thirteen. He joined various groups and took private lessons from teachers in the San Diego area. Later, Max earned a scholarship from Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA. Some groups he played with were Berklee String Orchestra (supported artists like Steven Tyler of Aerosmith, jazz pioneers Charlie Hayden and Michael Brecker, and world class violinist Daryl Anger), Harvard Summer Orchestra (Max was principle two years in a row), Michael Flynn (winner of the John Lennon Scholarship), and the MIT Big Band led by the legendary Herb Pomeroy. Berklee College of Music, Bass Department presented Max an 'Outsatnding Bass Player' award. After graduating Magna Cum Laude (Dean's list), Max moved to San Diego where he joined Third Coast Jazz Band, and started his own project Zanna Jazz Trio. He also taught full time at Moonlight Music. While in California he studied with University of California, San Diego professor and world famous classical bassist Bertram Turetzsky. Currently residing in Maryland, Max plays in the JCC Symphony Orchestra, the Funk/Fusion/Rock group The Karma Issue, The Oren Polak Duo, and teaches bass and music theory at his home studio.
